Tom's 1997 Forester S/TB - For Sale!
« on: February 05, 2012, 03:21:17 pm »
Hey guys, kept it somewhat of a secret till now. Been looking through auctions for about a few weeks now and finally found a Forester that fit my needs from William at JDM Connection. Needed a vehicle for work (require a lot of equipment which simply doesn't fit in the WRX) plus needed a vehicle to get me around if the WRX was out of commission. The WRX will now become mostly a track car/weekend cruiser.

Its a 1997 Forester S/TB (first year of the forester):
-5 speed
-75xxx km
-250hp turbo (similar engine to v4 wrx)
-~3000lbs
-8" ground clearance
-stock 16" wheels
-stock momo wheel

Overall I love the look of these, very aggressive front end IMO. VERY rare to find a low mileage, good condition example in 5 speed, highly coveted.  Interior is a lot nicer than my wrx, digital climate control, more spacious, more safety (driver/passenger airbags) and I still got a turbo :)

Only major flaw is the rear grey bumper has lots of fading (can be seen in the pics) but not a big deal as this is the only real fading and I'd like to eventually paint the two-tone the same green color anyway.

Few pics from auction, still in transit to William's yard in Japan, should be able to leave the country late february or early march.

Apart from fixing the paint, what are your mod plans?

I'll be using my winter rims+tires from the WRX as it will be my primary vehicle, I think i'll leave its stock rims for summer tires for now, though some metallic 17s would look awesome.

Probably some hellas

Some kind of stereo upgrade likely.

Mainly gonna stick to aesthetic and comfort mods, don't want this to become another project haha, just my DD

Haha I know man, lot nicer than my WRX though, with the digital climate control, newer looking dash. The floor pattern is iffy though

Haha thanks, the WRX was always just gonna be just a  "slightly modded daily driver" so we'll see how this goes  ::)

Yeah, thought that color was the actual floor at first, just some very JDM floormats it looks like. Do you actually want them? lol

Should have some more info and pics of her end of this week when it gets to William's yard in Japan.

Those floor mats are sick, they remind me of my friends duvet cover back in the early 90's.

Great find man, wish I had the patience and knowledge to bring something like that over.

Update:
Got some more information and pics from William's yard in Japan.
-Runs well, no mechanical issues of any kind
-few scratches and dents, and of course that rear bumper fading. Not worried as there's no visible body rusting
-Has a cool key with keyless entry, not sure if this works yet, hopefully I can get it to.
-VIN plate confirms it is an ej20g engine and not the later ej20k design that some people say they have reliability issues with.
-Interior looks MINT other than some small dent on passenger side dash where I assume something was mounted. Dash looking really shiny, no seat tears, stains, etc.

My main issue with the car is the tires on it, but I was planning on throwing a new (used) set on anyway, so shouldn't be an issue. Plus I have the blizzak's for winter.

Anyway, enough talking, more pics!
