Diode Dynamics LED bulbs
« on: March 25, 2014, 08:09:23 pm »
I replaced my map lights, dome light, and reverse lights with Diode Dynamics LEDs.

For the map lights and dome lights, I got their stage 2 bulbs in white. Install was really easy; I did it in my apartment's parking lot. All you need is a flathead screwdriver. The bulbs are noticeably brighter than stock, and it's a very clean white. I'll try to take a picture at some point.

For the reverse lights, I got the stage 3 bulbs again in white. Install was easy; again you only need a flathead screwdriver. These bulbs are insanely bright. It looks like I have HIDs for reverse lights.

Price wise, the bulbs aren't cheap, but they seem to be fairly well made if initial feel is any indication.

Good good... Now come to Calgary.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I've had mine for months but have yet to install them because I get home when it's dark.

I really need to do this.  Glad that you like them.
I used to drive Subaru's.

I've had them mounted in the XT since December, and they are much better than the halogen POS.

Thos reverse lights need to be wired to a hand switch for the lifted bro trucks following you on the Deerfoot.

Care to link to the type of reverse lights you got?

They have a number of different models and yours look just like the kind of output I need as my current bulbs just aren't cutting it when I am backing up.

I had a similar issue finding them. You need to search via car rather than bulb type, and it's listed in there.

http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/led-bulbs-1/listed-by-vehicle/subaru/sti/2004-2010-subaru-wrx-sti-backup-leds.html

I think we ordered the XPE16, but I don't see them listed anymore. Regardless, they're the brightest backup lights in the dropdown, for $90.

Seriously? A few posts up, LDS provided links to the bulbs. The map lights and dome light cost about $8 each while the reverse lights were $90.

If anyone else is interested in ordering some, let me know via PM. Not a group buy, just to lessen shipping costs.
