...is an armpit...
Seriously, this city is filthy, crowded, filthy, traffic is insane, filthy, dangerous, filthy, expensive, and, oh, did I mention filthy??
Ugh, I can't believe I'm saying this, but this place has me looking forward to getting to Saginaw...
Anyone else ever been here? I guess on the plus side, my hotel is really quite nice. The internet connection only lasts for about a minute every two hours (I'm stealing am unprotected wireless connection from across the street), and there are no English TV channels, but the staff and food are awesome.
The cab ride to my hotel was the craziest experience of my life. Image the most uckfayed up VW Beetle you can. Now hit it with a sledgehammer a few times, paint it green, and secure the door with a piece of string (I found out after that the green cabs are the ones that kidnap you sometimes... so I guess I dodged a bullet there), and give it a driver with no actual idea where you're trying to get to, and absolutely no regard for trivialities like stop lights, stop signs, opposing traffic lanes, bus lanes, sidewalks, pedestrians, speed limits, parked vehicles, or the fact that his passenger has no seatbelt. He got lost and took 3 hours to get to my hotel. Thank got I was charged a flat rate up front.
The facility where my presentation was booked must have figured that our strict guidelines for the setup of the computers were at best a suggestion, and more realistically, something to be completely ignored. Gotta love having to troubleshoot viruses, and multiple version of Office being installed when giving software demos. Now fill the class with a bunch of people who don't speak any English, even though it was clear that this was an English only class. Oh, and have them show up an hour late the first day so you're waaaaaaaaaaaaay behind by the start of the second day.
But, finally, I'm just relaxing with several cervezas... I leave for Saginaw at 9am tomorrow, with a 6 hour layover in Chicago, and I honestly can't wait...
