29-30 April 2017 - Driven PrepI have a few cosmetic things to fix up before the Foz goes to Driven next weekend. I hadn't polished the car, since I was (am) planning to have it fully repainted in the near future - but not before the show! Dug out the Flex polisher, compound, and glaze, and went to town!
The new foam cannon soap is super fun:
Since I couldn't lift my arms to take photos, here are the final shots only
I also bought some LaminX tail light overlay material, which was definitely "moderate" to "hard" level application (for me, anyways).
Pretty happy with how it turned out - it's different from the dark housing Sports tail lights ($300+ for OEM replacement quality) and gets rid of all that chrome:

This is my little side project - Nexus 7 headunit in the JDM Forester double DIN nav pod.
I bought a used 2013 wifi-only 16gb tablet from Kijiji. It turned out to only charge wirelessly, which I thought was odd, until I tried to sideload Timur's kernel and couldn't connect at all. Grr. I bought a new daughter board and performed rocket surgery, and it's up and running again! I'm pretty impressed with myself - it's not something I've done or thought I could manage. But gotta save dollars on my unnecessary I.C.E. (ICE BABY)!
(a) Original clock pod (b) removed (c) JDM double DIN pod
... apparently you've gotta keep the clock wired up inside, so the car isn't in limp mode..
I've got my brackets mocked up in cardboard, so I just need to cut & bend some sheet metal (likely with major assistance... and do-overs). I've ordered the stuff to hardwire the power source, but I'm going to run out of time!
Finally, I put on my FSTi lip! I even removed the plastic sticker protecting the STI emblem...
And, we
put on test fit the ZE40s! Ok, so at 18x9.5" +43 offset, they definitely require a spacer (8mm) for the rear. Which means I need extended studs at the rear as well (I guess it's an excuse to upgrade and match the front ARP studs!). The fenders self-clearanced a bit with the borrowed TC105's, so we'll definitely be rolling for these before the car gets painted.
