Going to get the sti vinyls redone on the fog light covers or leave them be?

Thought about it, but honestly, now that it's black I doubt it. I am REALLY enjoying the current look. Once the FMIC is in there it'll look all the better (And.. well, perform better too)

Oooh man.  That's awesome.  Congrats on the paint job.

You don't have to avoid the rain to let it cure?

Talked with the guys, they said it's good to go. Dried over night and is okay to be in the elements though I'm not supposed to hand wash it or otherwise for about a week.

That turned out awesome! :D

Looks like you did the roof rails too, good call. I was/am a little nervous with paint sticking, and those megastick stickers on them... but I hate that silver line.

I'm not supposed to hand wash it or otherwise for about a week.

Only a week? I understood more like 3-4 weeks! But maybe that was curing before nano-coating (10secdream's magic).

Everything is gloss black.. the rails, the piece in between the rear windows (C-Pillar) and the piece along the trunk too. I'm definitely going to play it safe - if I do wash it, be tenderly and loving.

Wow I'm not normally into black, but this thing looks soooo sick, and that JDM front end makes it look significantly more aggressive than stock. I am very vicariously living through your thread. :)

Which brings me to my next decision.. keep the stock brembo colour or paint them black? I'm thinking black with fresh brembo vinyl or whatever it is. Thoughts?

And thank you - nice knowing others are enjoying this build as much as I am.

Paint the calipers black, then put on silver/gunmetal brembo vinyls.

I keep telling myself I should stop bringing up your green brakes, but it's my best case against you.

But seriously, I think black brakes would be too much.  Silver Brembos would be classy and give some contrasting lines to the car.  Check out Funk32's build.  His brakes look awesome.

I'll be accused of more blasphemy, but I think yellow would look fantastic too.  But I didn't get the vibe that it was the look you were going for.

I'm fairly confident at this point that it was in fact you who told the previous owner of my forester to paint my calipers green, the last person you advised painted their calipers yellow after all.

I disagree with black being too much, its very subdued like any greyscale color. Silver however to me just gets lost in the rotors, it works for Funk32 because his rotors are very aggressive looking to begin with and the calipers are more shapely than the oem brembos.

The s2k has silver calipers. They're boring. Needs red.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Red's as dead as Zed, baby.

it works for Funk32 because his rotors are very aggressive looking to begin with and the calipers are more shapely than the oem brembos.

While you have a point, you're still on the wrong side of the right/wrong spectrum.

Reds definitely a no go.

Silver does blend in too much.

Yellow is too.. much, you're right - now quite my style.

The dark orange is nice, but it does need a freshening.

Exterior I think these will be going black again - I like the idea of gunmetal brembo logo, I really don't want anything to be demanding your attention, just noticing the subtle details. Brembos, FMIC.. those will be the extent that people will see from the exterior.

Betacuts can make the Brembo vinyls in whatever color you want, maybe even a gunmetal WSC vinyl to go with it.

Thanks for the tip about the Brembo stickers! I'll definitely hit him up.

From picking her up in Regina on March 12th to picking her up from the shop April 13th - crazy it's only been a month of owning this thing.

And a bit of a back story - the guy who owned it would BARELY answer my texts or calls. I had a search open for BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan for this vehicle. Full body painted, massive moon roof, manual.

When this one came up it apparently sold, so was out of the question. Buyer obviously backed out and it came up again at a much better price. Ended up talking to him a bit about it, made an offer - no go, said he needed full asking. It was still a good deal so I told him I would fly out that Saturday and give him full asking for it - what's he say? Find a vehicle closer to you. Wouldn't respond after that... WTF.

Ended up finding someone who lived in Regina to look at it and buy it for me.

I figure he either thought I was a scammer or I would fly out and be disappointed with the vehicle. It had dents and marks on it, and honestly, wasn't nearly as clean as he suggested it would be... and it was STILL a good deal. Knowing I was putting the body work into it I purchased it sight unseen and flew out for it.

Still.. that was the biggest hassle to get a vehicle I was going to pay full list for. Crazy.

Really frustrated with how progress is going. It's been 0-100 over the last month, but now my learning curve is definitely slowing things down.

Youtubing all sorts of crap to get this done, thank goodness for both that and all the DIY threads. On that note, learned how to pull a ball joint today.

Front brakes are out, rears are giving me trouble - the lateral links are seized. I'm soaking them with penetrating oil consistently, hoping that they'll give me some give.

My goal in one weeks time is to:
1. Have the rear differential dropped.
2. All the brakes off, cleaned and painted - ready for their next home.
3. Have the engine and tranny pulled

After that, I'm going to label the itshay out of the wiring harness so that it's ready to be pulled out and moved over. I think I'm going to just move over the full harness - believe the only things I have to merge are the fuel pump, tail lights and HVAC controls. Who needs a heater anyways?
