Hotel recommendations for Edmonton?
« on: March 02, 2018, 10:09:55 am »
My MIL is coming to visit us at the beginning of May, and she's looking for a place to stay. We would prefer to have her stay in south Edmonton. Cost doesn't seem to be *too* much of an issue.

We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton just off of Ellerslie and Gateway after a Christmas Party a year or two ago and it was nice enough and reasonably priced. There are a few newer hotels around that area that would serve the purpose.

I stayed in the Chateau Lacombe Hotel a few months ago and it was great. I don't know if that's considered South, maybe it's Downtown, I don't know Edmonton ;D But the room was really nice inside and bed super comfy.

How south? I stayed at the Days Inn on Uni Ave and Calgary trail when I lived out of town and had to come for work. It is totally a hotel. Nothing fancy, but quick to get around and was close enough to whyte that i could grab some good food.

I stayed at Varscona on whyte a few times as well. It's less convenient for hoping in a car and going elsewhere, but I liked it for getting to shows on whyte. Fancier than the Days Inn but rooms seemed smaller on average.

Preferably nothing further north than Whyte Ave. I don't believe the MIL will be renting a car, so parking isn't a huge concern. We were thinking of exploring Whyte Ave anyway, so the Varscona would be a great option.

I think the Metterra is run by the same company as Varscona, but tries to be more upscale maybe?

I stay at the Holiday inn Conference center. It's $150 a night and it's always clean.

I used to stay at the Best Western Plus in the very south end by the huge Acura and VW dealerships. It is a new hotel so the rooms are really nice.
