My current 2015 WRX has spent a lot of time in the dealership for diagnosis and repairs... If the fuel mileage wasn't this phenomenal, I would have sold this car off a long time ago!
Issues & resolutions:
Clicking in the front suspension driving at slow speed
- Front sway bark links replaced
- Front strut top mounts replaced
- There is a Technical service bulletin “TSB” for this issue
Electrical gremlins, dash lights up like a Christmas tree
- Factory battery was replaced as per TSB
Rough idle at 30+ degrees Celsius, forcing the car into limp mode
- Engine light; Ecu lost its internal timing. Dealership cleared the code and reset the ECU
- Engine light; bad cam sensor, dealership replaced one of the 4 cam sensors
TSB for 2015 FA motors
- ECU was detuned/re-flashed
- I lost a bit of horsepower as per my butt dyno and pedal response changed to be more linear
- Compression test was completed to validate the health of the motor
Code - P0420 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold
- Dealership cleared code
My final issue which remains unresolved
Odd whirling fluttering sound when releasing the clutch, this happens intermittently during low torque, low speeds starts. It happens randomly; when the car is hot or cold, during summer or in the middle of winter. It may happen once a week or multiple times in a day. Car now has 80K km on the Odo. Clutch pedal is also now intermittently clicking and groaning.
- Dealership had difficulties acknowledging this issue as they could not reduplicate it, despite having the car for 5 visits and 3 full days. They do acknowledge that my clutch holds strong and is not slipping.
- I finally managed to record a video of the sound and the Dealership will be replacing the throw out bearing next week. They found a TSB for the throw out bearing and there is a new revision of bearing that they will be installing on the pressure plate.
