The new family hauler; 2014 Acura MDX Tech
« on: October 26, 2019, 09:48:36 pm »
Originally we thought we'd keep the wife's 2012 Chrysler 200S another year or so. But the winter tires were nearing replacement and with the addition of our daughter, I wanted her to have something with AWD.

What would have made sense was keeping the mint, low km 08 Infiniti EX35, byt it was "too old" and was sold in the spring. Oh well, lol.

We test drove a bunch of stuff, most 3 rows that were realistically in our price range. The MDX was our favorite, but likely to expensive. We almost got a Highlander, but the deal didn't work out. Last week almost got an RDX but I was $1k apart with the guy, glad it didn't work out.

This past week I reached out to someone with an aggressive price. He said he'd consider it so we went to check it out. A clean, 2014 Acura MDX Tech with 78k and Hakka winters with a second full set of 20's with new summers. Original owners, it looked like new. We hammered out the details in short order and we picked it up this afternoon. Coming from a Chrysler, the wife is ecstatic with the new ride. And I'm happy because it's actually a pleasure to drive, nice power and super compfy. I really didn't care for her old car, even if she loved it lol. Pretty happy to pair this thing with the Audi.

Anyways, you're only here for the picks so here ya go.

Thanks man, really happy with how things worked out. It hasn't really hit the wife yet that it's her new car lol.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Chrysler.

Lol all the others since have been good, maybe just not perfect.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Chrysler.
She would have never bought that thing had I known her at the time. She loved it, I hated it lol. Domestics are the worst for resale value.

Lol original stuff here. In all seriousness, I'd be shocked if we sell it in less than 5 years. She keeps her cars a long time, and this one checks every box we had.

Hey, you gotta give the people what they want.

It's a Honda, it'll run forever. It's actually the first good car choice you've made in recent memory.

I have put on about 35k in 12 months on mine and she is still running solid. Doesn't even consume that much oil for a Honda either.

You have an MDX?

My in laws have had a 16 pilot and have a 19 pilot. Both have been excellent. I'm a big Honda guy so happy to have another.

It'll never happen, but I'm so hoping the new Acura Type S Concept gets a 6spd. It's a niche, but with Audi and BMW dropping them, Audi could have the entire niche market of people who want manuals. If the car is actually good, they could win a lot of BMW and Audi guys who've settled on an auto because there's no other option on the market. If this happened, I'd break my new car rule and buy one.

I...  now own an MDX that I seat my 5 kids in carseats in.

On a day to day basis I like my MDX Elite more but...

I really enjoy the MDX...

You have an MDX?

Coop, man, not to rag on you, but he mentioned it quite a few times in your other thread.  Looking back, you even quoted him.  Anyway, in regards to manual Acuras, Honda's in it to make money, so they're following trends, not setting them.

Really nice grab on your MDX though.  Belated congrats!

Lol in my defense I didn't go through the other thread and when I looked at his car list under his avy, there wasn't an MDX mentioned.

Nice MDX dream, I'm digging those wheels!
