Bought a cool and rare Scoob!
« on: November 13, 2019, 10:46:29 pm »
Hello everybody! Glad to have found this website.

Daniel here, 23, currently residing in Saskatoon, Sk. I thought I should introduce my soon to be new-to-me ride: a 2001 Subaru Impreza Sportswagon Sti. Brian over @ B-ProAuto and his team bid for it on my behalf about a month ago at auction in Japan. I won, and the car just landed in Vancouver this week. I'll be flying out to retrieve the car and begin the trip home, with a possible stop for dyno tuning. Say hi, and let me know what you think of the car!

Thanks! It seems to me to be the ultimate daily driver:
Two rows of seating, that hatch space (especially with the seats down) combined with the V7 EJ207's forged internals, AVCS, 8k rmp and oem unequal length headers for that rumble...I also happen to think the wagon rear end just works better visually than the sedan. The only thing missing really is the wide fenders!

Cool!

As another STi bugeye owner I'm excited to see what you do with your car. Plans besides tuning?

Nice dude, congrats! Make sure you've taken into consideration and check the fluids (oil, trans, brake, coolant, etc.), tire condition, etc. after ocean freight when you pick-up in Vancouver! You're gonna' have a blast this winter in this thing that's for sure. I miss that raw feeling my GC8 had. If you're trip takes you through Calgary if you're driving back this way, the guys meet up every Tuesday night here for coffee, maybe your trip might line up with a stop in! (See Timmies Meet link in my signature below).

Love those wheels! Personally as kijho said, I would sort out some maintenance before any tuning, and check fluids before leaving BC.. which reminds me of an old thread: http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=19835.0

The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

Welcome! Excited to watch this build progress! I'll have a good view at least:

GR's are like the International Space Station.

Welcome to the forum, awesome wagon. Please make sure you have winter tires on before you make that trip if you haven't thought about it. Safe travels!

Yes! Because BC winter tire laws. Also, usually when I have seen a newly imported JDM car, the tires that come with the car to Canada are cracked and dry rotting, and should be replaced.

Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the forums! Excited to follow this journey :)
