New to WSC
« on: November 14, 2019, 05:23:21 pm »
Hey, everyone!

My name is Rob, and I currently reside in Cold Lake, Alberta.

I have been Interested in Subaru's for about 5 years, having purchased my first Subaru in August of 2014, a 2015 DGM WRX Sport.

Unfortunately, in October, I was t-boned while driving near work, and my WRX was written off. I was heartbroken, and after a couple of weeks of driving the rental the insurance company provided to me, I knew I had to get back into a Subaru again.

After I settled with the insurance company, I was on the hunt. I was on the clock too. Winter was coming! I found what would become my new car lurking for sale in BC. I have family near there, so I asked one of them to contact the seller and check out the car for me. When everything checked out, I flew out there last week to purchase the car and drive it home.

My new DD car is a lightly modified American 2005 CGM STI imported to Canada in 2010. The car came with the original BBS wheels, and a WRX trunk swap (sadly) from the previous owner. 193k on the body which is in fantastic shape considering the mileage, and 80k on the Subaru-rebuilt engine. The car is amazing to drive. Here are a couple images from today.

The only upgrades that I know are on the car are:

Cobb AP V3 tuned to 91 octane
Borla exhaust
DP
Short shift with new bushings
Titanium shift knob
Custom backseat swap to allow passthrough to trunk

My aim here is to work on the car with my step-son, start a build thread to encourage help and feedback from the community, and meet some new friends along the way.

Thank you for having me!

Cheers

Welcome! If the oil pickup hasn't been upgraded yet, I would recommend getting that done as a first mod for reliability.
I occasionally stream games on Twitch

Welcome!  CGM is best colour :)

For oil pickup tubes, the bling brand is KillerB, but for half the price and the same build quality, Morosso is another to consider.

I ran the WRX spoiler for a while and quite liked it.

uckfay, Johnny with the back-handed slap. You're clearly the Oracle.

Nice car jelly! The Hawkeye is my second favorite. I almost bought one admittedly.

I do have an oil change coming up, I will look into those and get one.
